After founding a college market newspaper and graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in economics and business management, Mr. Andrew (“Scott”) worked with NCNB now BOA in their corporate banking division where he handled mergers & acquisitions and commercial accounts. As an entrepreneur over the last twenty-five years, Scott has founded and/or owned all or a significant part of more than a dozen different companies spanning multiple industries and countries including beverage wholesale, real-estate development, rodeo productions, internet marketing & distribution in retail and B2B as well as businesses in the home furnishings industry. While building companies, he has also served on several boards including the NC Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association and the Coors Brewing Company Mid-Atlantic Advisory Board. His expertise in distribution lead to the development of a broad-based internet business which operated in more than thirty states and several foreign markets. Recognizing a need for disruptive distribution and retail changes in the $100 billion dollar US home furnishings industry, he founded RSS and through strategic asset and talent acquisitions has directed RSS’s industry leading growth of 40 to 125% annually since the company’s inception.  Scott has long proven his ability to see market needs & trends in multiple industries and then build successful talent pools he calls “Master-Mind Teams” to fill them.

Jerry has been a leader in the home furnishings industry for over 16 years running operations for businesses that have generated over $300 million in wholesale revenue since the year 2000. As the Senior Vice President and COO of Retail Service Systems, Jerry works directly with manufacturing partners to ensure that RSS receives the best value and service for its brands, products and private labels. Jerry also oversees RSS’s financial division and its customer service and brand development teams while working with the company’s CEO on strategic project and program development. Prior to working in the home furnishings industry, Jerry graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Transportation and Logistics.  He has worked in both operations and sales for distribution based businesses in the trucking and waste management industries and assisted in taking a new waste management company public by heading up acquisitions and mergers for Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.  Just prior to joining a start-up in the home furnishings industry in 2000, Jerry was the top sales representative in the nation for Westlaw, a legal software business.  Jerry resides in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Emily who is a former OSU National Champion Buckeye Mascot, and their dog Woody. The Williams are avid Buckeye fans who enjoy attending the games with family and friends.  More rewarding than Buckeye wins, is the impact of his favorite charity “Autism Speaks” with which he has chaired the board and helped raise over $300,000 in the last 8 years.  This is one of the many activities Jerry participates in, which contributes to his mantra in life-

Prior to being asked to join the RSS executive Master Mind team in 2016, Darren was the founder of four separate retail business chains that created training, marketing and sales programs that lead to the successful opening of several hundred retail operations across the United States. Darren has been a sought-after business expert in the retail bedding industry by some of its largest manufacturers like Serta and Corsicana. He was recently asked by Third Bridge, one of the world’s leading information company’s providing equity firms, hedge fund managers and strategy consultants with expert industry information and analysis, to provide expert information for one of their investment firm clients. Before entering the entrepreneurial side of business, Darren attended The Ohio State University and built a very successful career in sales and sales management going from being a sales representative with Cutco cutlery to leading one of the top divisions in the nation. Darren’s visionary abilities for creating brands and marketing strategies that include social media and community atmosphere cultivation are second to none and he loves the feeling of empowering others to achieve their best while being a part of a much larger team.

After receiving her degree in accounting from Mount Vernon Nazarene College, Amy began a career in accounting that included work in the telecommunications, metals manufacturing and agriculture industries. Her cross-industry experience made her a perfect fit for joining a rapidly growing home furnishings business as their Senior Accountant in 2004 where she oversaw more than $35 million dollars a year in wholesale revenue. In 2013 she was asked to join the RSS team as their controller to assist the company in developing a GAAP compliant accounting system that could handle complex accounting for an umbrella style structure which would include wholesale and retail revenue from multiple business such as franchises, licensees and corporate owned locations. This project included working with corporate retail locations in multiple states and included military BX operations as well as licensing and compliance documentation in multiple states while also being the liaison to RSS’s accounting firm Dixon, Hughes, Goodman which is a top 20 US firm.  Amy lives just outside of Columbus, OH with her husband John and their sons Tyler and Jacob. She is an avid gardener and enjoys showcasing numerous spring and summer floral arrangements taken from her personal flower garden.

David’s business roots started when his father taught him to analyze financials for their seven-restaurant chain of Golden Skillets and working retail at their wholesale/retail clothing outlet. His educational goes back to graduating number one in his class at North Carolina State University and continuing to earn his MBA at the prestigious UNC Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School, certification in data-driven marketing at Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, and ten years’ worth of leadership and business management training in the Vistage CEO leadership program. David spent three years with Accenture in consulting then made his move to become a Rugged Entrepreneur co-founding a marketing company. As the Executive Vice President of that first company, David lead it through multiple roll-up mergers and acquisitions until it was ultimately sold for 200 million dollars to a large public company. David also co-founded a venture backed “mobile marketing” business that was sold to Nokia, built and sold an ATM business that grew to over 300 locations in the coastal Carolinas, became the CEO of a marketing research and analytics firm, and was the Co-Founder and Chair of the Alliance Medical Ministry in Raleigh, NC which is an award-winning non-profit providing medical care to the working uninsured in Wake County. RSS’s mission of “Empowering Entrepreneurs” and building Rugged’s has successfully lured David out of a comfortable entrepreneurial semi-retirement as an elite marketing services provider to be a part of our very special purpose driven company. David’s experiences in high level data-driven marketing and rugged entrepreneurship will be a boon to advancing RSS’s advertising and marketing strengths across all business models and programs.

After graduating with academic honors in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Illinois, Brad went to work in sales where he received numerous awards and advanced to become the Division Manager for the top division in one of the nation’s largest direct selling companies. From there he worked as a Director having oversight for direct response marketing through direct mail and internet campaigns. Turning his ambitions towards the entrepreneurial realm, Brad successfully opened and built one of the largest RSS franchises which he successfully sold and has helped coach to become RSS’s largest franchised business in the nationwide chain. His mastery of business coaching combined with his sales skills make him a great part of RSS’s experienced leadership team and his competitive spirit continuously drives him to have the largest volume division in the RSS umbrella of business. Aside from his aggressive business ambitions Brad is the father of eight children ranging from 15 to 37 years of age and is actively involved in his local community church.

George is a life-long entrepreneur and the founder of multiple businesses including start-ups in the internet, telecommunications and home furnishings industries. He is a fourth-generation Floridian and a veteran of the United States Navy where he served and worked in nuclear programs after attending Florida State University.  His wife Sandi and one of their three sons Josh own and run a very successful RSS franchise in Tallahassee (Tallahassee Furniture Direct). George was RSS’s first business advisor hence his nick-name “The Father” which is also attributed to his no-nonsense and direct style of business coaching wherein along with managing RSS’s southeast division, he still advises RSS dealers and location managers across the country on best business practices. George as “The Father” and a passionate coach has had a profound impact on the success of many RSS business owners and corporate managers. He and Sandi are not only the proud parents of three grown men but also grandparents to two grandsons. Along with his family and business passions George is an open water diver, private pilot and avid outdoorsman who makes time to serve on the board of a Tallahassee non-profit organization and along with Sandi, volunteers time to several community organizations.

 

RSS’s CPE (“Chief Project(s) Engineer”) Jim Wilson, has an elite and decorated background in engineering, executive level project management, large account engineering sales and global procurement. His experiences are crucial in his oversight of RSS’s U.S. and international manufacturing and supply chain projects. Jim’s experiences cover a wide array of expertise from plant construction and build out to engineering sales, executive level assistant work, projects management and just in time chemical procurement as Eastman Chemical’s Sr. Procurement Director for more than 50 factories worldwide. After graduating with an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Tennessee, Jim went on to earn Suma Cum Laude honors getting his MBA while working for Raytheon. Soon thereafter, Jim went to work for Eastman Chemical where he held several positions overseeing numerous projects, he has received multiple awards and recognition including: an “Outstanding” award (top 20% of company) with accommodation letters from the CEO in both 2014 and 2015 for commercial excellence in Procurement, Everest Club Award Winner (Top 10%): (1) PET Sales, 2008 (2) Fibers Sales, 2011. Selected as Everest winner (the highest achievement in sales for Eastman) 2 of the 6 years he was in Global Sales and was the Eastman Sales Rep of the Quarter, Q4-2011.  Born one of five children in low-income Camden, New Jersey, Donovin grew up with a sense of purpose because of the sacrifices and determination he witnessed in his mother Roberta Darius. Despite being ridiculed as a child for his families lack of material possessions and his big ideas, Donovin heard his call to be different at a very young age. Donovin ultimately went to college on scholarship playing football for Syracuse and was the 1997 Big East defensive player of the year. He was a Jacksonville Jaguars first round draft pick in 1998 and was named to the NFL’s All Rookie team his first year. Today, along with his work in life development, Donovin has served on the NFL Players Association Executive Committee and is the Director of the south east division of the NFL Legends program.

 

While paying her way through college at UNC Charlotte, Daphene answered an ad to become a flight attendant and before she knew it at the age of eighteen began a twenty plus year career with one of the nation’s largest airlines. She chose to open her own home furnishings store in 2014 and it has become a home town favorite as well as an R & D test center for close-out and container purchasing programs. Her passion for design and decorating has been a part of her helping numerous lake and beach home owners design and furnish their houses on the SC coast as well as Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell where her BoxDrop Furniture store is located. Being married to an entrepreneur and RSS’s founder, she has long been an integral part of businesses they built together from a beer distributorship to a rodeo production company and now having the opportunity to take a passion for decorating and design and invest it into walking showrooms at various furniture markets while helping RSS cultivate key buying and manufacturing relationships is invaluable. Like most key members of the RSS Leadership Team, she is an experienced entrepreneur in a class we call Warrior Entrepreneurs because they have started businesses from scratch and know all the details soup to nuts from sweeping floors to keeping books and from unloading trucks to making a sale that leads to a good review and a repeat customer. Daphene has also worked hard as a mother to Scott and Daphene’s daughter Hayley and their son Aaron who runs a corporate owned RSS BoxDrop location in New Orleans, LA.

With over 25 years of experience in the $100 Billion-dollar home furnishings industry, Kyle brings a broad array of segmented knowledge to RSS. He began that path of expertise as a store manager for Off Track Bedding and was soon made the company’s District Manager that helped the company grow from 8 to 35 locations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. From there Kyle moved to mega retailer Ashley Furniture where he was the sales manager for the Homestore in Warwick RI. He took his successful experiences and opened his own specialty bedding store and was later hired by a bedding retail chain with over 60 locations as the VP of operations. Kyle joined the RSS team to help the company develop a specialized BoxDrop business operation that is a now a successful RSS corporate owned business in Warren, RI. Kyle and his wife Mary have been married for twenty-five years and Mary is also a successful entrepreneur with her own dental lab business who still finds time to help Kyle with their RSS adventure. With two sons Logan and Tyler, the Sherratt’s have aspirations for a multi-generation multi-location RSS business and the whole family helps as they also own their own RSS mattress location in Rhode Island. Logan is still in high school playing baseball and basketball while Tyler works with his father and is already becoming an avid RSS entrepreneur.

 

Prior to being asked to join the RSS Headquarters, John built and ran one of the top 5% RSS locations in Toledo, Ohio and was a fully categorized BoxDrop Mattress & Furniture business. John and his wife Kathy ran a very successful business for over 12 years and as a Rugged Entrepreneur himself, he knows what the RSS locations go through and what they need on a daily basis. As the General Manager, John will oversee and constantly improve all operations and dealer support. Before getting into the mattress and furniture business, John and Kathy owned and ran their own restaurant for 9 years while raising their three sons. John loves Ohio State football, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. In his spare time he likes to hunt, fish and spend time with family including his four grandchildren.

Steve Jones is a Digital Marketing Strategist and Video Marketing Professional with more than 20 years of experience consulting and leading organizations by creating and implementing cutting-edge business and advertising ideas. His creative talent rose from an unlikely background wherein Steve developed a serious penchant for discipline wrestling for the Bulldogs and earning his baccalaureate degree in Transportation Logistics from the University of Georgia. That discipline and competitive spirit supported his unique formula for success which is built on a solid foundation of education, research and statistics. Steve fully grasps the fact that every online move is methodical and planned with perceptive vision to create the highest ROI possible. As an entrepreneur, Steve built and managed his own marketing and consulting business which made him a perfect fit for RSS as our Creative Digital Marketing Director and Media Specialist. Just joining the team in January of 2017, he will be working directly with RSS business owners and managers as their in-house marketing and advertising consultant and trainer while also working with executive management on new marketing endeavors in the eCommerce niche.

 

Before joining RSS, Gerrod represented both Fortune 500 and small business clients, always with an eye toward streamlining issues and finding simple solutions to complex problems. Whether each case was tried to a verdict or resolved by settlement, Gerrod helped his clients navigate the legal and business uncertainties present for each client. As RSS’s Chief Legal Officer, Gerrod is tasked with protecting the mission of RSS and helping the company enable its rugged entrepreneurs to succeed. Gerrod graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Music and Sociology. He then graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Since 2014, Gerrod has been on the Case Committee for the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education’s High School Mock Trial program, and has also served as a mock trial judge in the competition. Gerrod is an avid sports fan and never misses an opportunity to catch a game involving either of his alma maters. Also a lifelong fan of soccer, Gerrod frequents Columbus Crew games whenever he can. In addition, he is an Ohio high school certified soccer referee and was elected the Most Promising Official in the Central Ohio area. Gerrod lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife and two children.

While most people with Bob’s level of experience and success would be looking at a peaceful retirement, Bob is supported by Cathy, his energetic wife of forty-five years, and is the most recent addition to RSS’s experienced team of Division Managers that we call ‘Business Coaches’. Bob saw the opportunity to be a part of such a rapidly growing organization as “the right time, the right programs and with the right people” as a challenge that was just right for capping an already immensely successful corporate and entrepreneurial career. Spending just over thirty years in the recreational vehicle industry Bob has held almost every position imaginable beginning in sales with Fleetwood where he rose to become the Northwest Division manager and ultimately in charge of sales nationally for the company in their Class-C motor homes division. He then spent three years reporting directly to Fleetwood’s CIO and was responsible for the Business Process Re-engineering of Fleetwood Enterprises. Bob’s corporate talents landed him in the position of VP over Sales, Marketing and Product Planning for Workhorse Custom Chassis seeing the business move from acquisition to sale to International Truck & Engine. Just before making the entrepreneurial leap he was asked to be the Assistant to the CEO & President of Western Recreational Vehicles, Inc. where after two years he opened what is now one of the most successful RSS franchises (Chico Furniture Direct). His success lead to his daughter Amanda becoming second generation Wert in the RSS family running their established business and Bob opening a second location under BoxDrop Mattress in 2016. Bob’s experience in corporate adventures and as an entrepreneur who has mastered three of RSS’s programs, make him a treasure of wisdom in the RSS Leadership Team and his ideas to advance the company forward in its goals place him in a unique role of Strategist above and beyond being the Pacific Division Manager.

 

After attending the University of Louisiana, Troy entered the Marines where he served for six years taking part in the first Gulf war as a NCO and later became a Platoon Sergeant for Marine Security Forces stationed at Camp Pendleton and Mare Island.  After an honorable discharge, Troy became the managing partner of a national franchise chain in Lodi California as well as a very active member of the Lodi District Chamber of Commerce. In 2006 he was named the Volunteer of the Year and had positioned himself to own three other franchise type businesses spanning the automotive, restaurant, and real estate industries. RSS asked Troy to join its corporate management team in the fall of 2015 and promoted him to the National Strategic Market Development Directors position in late 2016. Troy’s penchant for passionately communicating the broad nature of RSS’s numerous brands and business programs comes from his entrepreneurial heart and experience with multiple brands in multiple industry’s. Troy’s wife Laurie owns her own RSS BoxDrop Mattress location and between them, they have six children and four grandchildren.

Graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, most of Sean’s career was health and fitness oriented prior to joining RSS/BoxDrop Sean began his career at a well-known health and supplement retailer, where he managed a location that grew from $100k in annual sales to $500k in just three short years. From there, his career brought him into personal training and wellness coaching. Through persistence, relationship-building, and coaching successful clients, Sean grew his client base very quickly and moved into a management role, where he oversaw a team of 12 trainers and a membership team. Once his daughter Chloe was born, Sean’s career path took a dramatic change. He desired more time to experience the growth and milestones of his infant daughter with his loving wife Lindsey, whom he wed in 2012 or 13. Inspired by many other Rugged Entrepreneurs that have achieved success in record time, Sean is taking steps to achieve next-level growth while embracing his new role as RSS/BoxDrop’s Northeast Division Coach. Looking to grow and expand on established incredible talent, Sean hopes to bring his coaching, mentoring, leadership, and team-building background to take the Northeast Group to new heights and beyond.

Like several other key RSS Leadership Team members, Clifton was perused by RSS for several years because of his success as an entrepreneur in the home furnishings industry. After graduating from Huntington College in Indiana he went to work in corporate America where he became a national accounts manager for a consumer based products company but not being satisfied, changed paths to both become an entrepreneur and to bolster his education. Clifton started his own specialized mattress retail business in Indiana and while building it began taking graduate level classes at Purdue University in both Philosophy and Philanthropy. He successfully built his company PillowTops using and perfecting a very specialized methodology for setting up a unique type of retail mattress business. That business grew to some twenty locations with his own personal location doing over $10 million in sales since its inception. It was that success which caught RSS’s attention and ultimately lead to RSS buying PillowTops in late 2016 thus adding Clifton and the PillowTops business to our ever-growing Leadership Team and portfolio of RSS brands and programs. Clifton and his wife love to travel with their children and Clifton personally loves the outdoors as an avid outdoor enthusiast.

Theron’s early competitive success in baseball continued to college where he played for Olivet Nazarene University and graduated Suma Cum Laude.  Theron then went to work in Washington DC for the Free Congress Foundation think tank writing position papers and assisting in congressional campaigns. His penchant for deep political thought landed him a job with Congressman Robert Smith where he became the Senior Legislative Assistant responsible for writing speeches, briefing Congressman Smith and communicating with key constituents. Making a career change to focus on family, Theron developed a servicing business working with some of largest retail furniture chains in the country and eventually also opened a very successful home furnishings business in the DC area.  As his entrepreneurial passion flared he and Christy, his wife of eighteen years, had four children whom they were raising in the suburbs of DC. Fortunate for RSS Theron and Christy’s desired to move their family from the city and closer to their extended family in rural Ohio. This was the trigger for RSS to add one of its sharpest minds to our great leadership team. Theron opened an RSS corporate location in south eastern Columbus that was originally meant to be a test for new distribution concepts and soon thereafter choose to own it outright. Describing his adventure with RSS Theron says: “I cannot fathom having another career that provides better balance and compensation by working for yourself while being part of a larger organization – I am grateful for being able to have a career that brought me back closer to my extended family – the system works no matter where you go”.

 

Sandi Varn is a native Floridian and throughout her life has made a difference in her community by teaching Sunday school, serving on numerous non-profit boards and selflessly volunteering to support good causes. Sandi’s competitive spirit along with her love for the great outdoors has driven her through triathlons, half and full marathons, USTA tennis national championships and the entire Appalachian Trail “14 State Challenge”. She graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications, specializing in Advertising and Public Relations. After college Varn worked as Research – Marketing Specialist for the number one market share CBS affiliate in the country, served as Vice President Marketing for the largest independent oil change company in the nation and owned a full service advertising agency. In addition to running the ad agency, she assisted her husband, George, in the administrative and financial duties of his mattress and furniture distribution business. Sandi bought the business in 2007 and has owned and operated Tallahassee Furniture Direct and BoxDrop Tallahassee, one of the top Retail Service Systems locations in the country, for the past eleven years. Sandi and George raised three wonderful sons and their oldest, Josh, is a full-time partner in the business.

Andy is native to northeastern Wisconsin.  He was raised in a single income blue color family,  that taught him the importance of strong work ethic and the value of time spent with family. His biggest passions are his business, helping others and the outdoors. After graduating, with his Industrial Engineering Associates Degree, Andy worked 10 years in customer service, retail sales and industrial sales.  He was then introduced to RSS through a friend who recognized his strong entrepreneurial spirit.  However, his first year in the business was filled with struggles and challenges.  A long 10 months into ownership, Andy’s  business was failing and he was fired from his full time job.  He didn’t realize what a blessing this would be.  With his new found time and the assistance of his coach and other dealers, he turned his mattress business around.  In less than a year his business was up over 600%!  In only 3 short successful years, he has been able to help friends and family start more than 8 locations. He has purchased his 27,000 square foot building, which helps surrounding dealers fill their product needs. Josh grew up in an entrepreneurial family. His parents owned a vending machine business and then an income tax office. Josh helped with both, even at a very young age. In high school he became certified to do personal income tax returns and quickly took over the management of the tax office. He learned that he had a knack for accounting, management and running a business. He knew he wanted to be an entrepreneur. He earned a degree in Business Management and Accounting at West Virginia University where he was also the first to graduate with a minor in Entrepreneurship.

Josh continued his career working for small businesses in management, sales and accounting. He was not content. He wanted to be an entrepreneur again. In 2013, Josh was fortunate enough to be introduced to Retail Service Systems. He now owns and operates two locations in the Charleston, West Virginia area.

His true passion is enriching people’s lives. He has done this for many years at his local church where he is the director of a large Christian basketball program impacting the lives of thousands of kids and their families.

As part of the leadership team he is excited to couple his entrepreneurial spirit with his passion to enrich people’s lives.  He is blessed to have the loving support of his beautiful wife, Andrea. They love the yearly incentive trips and look forward to many more for years to come!

Louie Esparza, New to the retail/wholesale environment, had never even sold a sandwich in his life prior to pulling off “Rookie Of The Year” in the first 5 months in mattress sales.In his first year in the mattress business,  Louie’s single store location and awesome team did 1.3 million dollars in total sales. Not a bad start to a brand new career in the mattress world.

Louie has had a “Serial Entrepreneurial” spirit throughout his life, beginning as a young boy selling “guppies” to his elementary school mates all the way to owning an 8 thousand acre hunting operation later in his life. Louie has had a wide array of careers beginning with the United States Coast Guard which led him into 14 years of law enforcement  – including a position as a United States Federal Air Marshal (following the September 11, 2001 terrorists attacks)

 Louie and his wife, Darcy, are big proponents of giving back to their community.  In 2017, immediately after Hurricane Harvey, they closed down business to gather volunteers to help cook and serve warm meals to hurricane victims. They also pulled together a team of people to help donate dozens of mattresses to the hardest hit victims.  Louie, Darcy, and their business partners, Danial and Brittany Fuller, embody the entrepreneurial team spirit and continue to build business/community relationships as well as provide mentorship to their peers.

This dedicated entrepreneur started out working full time at Ruby Tuesday’s kitchen as a cook and kitchen manager while studying full-time in the Purdue school of business at Salisbury University. Graduated cum laude in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science degree focusing in business management and accounting. Chris joined the family business after college in June 2004 as an assistant to his father Patrick Benhoff. Through the years, he has implemented many new ways to grow the business including the addition of several social media outlets. After 5 years of working with his father, he officially took over the role as owner and renamed the business Baltimore Furniture Direct in November 2009. Chris puts his heart into his business and it shows through his unparalleled work ethic and superior customer service. His devotion and drive to succeed has pushed him to maintain a spot as a Rugged 300 entrepreneur and has encouraged him to become a part of the RSS team. Chris is looking forward to embracing the challenge of becoming a division business coach. He is eager to encourage and empower others in his RSS team to achieve their goals and happy to embark on this new path. Chris has successfully achieved 15 years in the mattress and furniture industry. He is continuing to expand his business and has currently brought on his brother Tyler to apprentice with him, keeping family values in the business. Kirk comes with a background in the tertiary finance sector selling alternative means to traditional financing (No Credit Needed). Kirk served as a Regional Manager and Regional VP of Sales for Acima Finance as well as the National B2B Sales Manager for Acceptance Now, owned by $3.2 Billion giant Rent-A-Center, where he opened more than 120 locations annually resulting in over $36 Million in annual sales. Kirk, joined by his wife Heather, have been entrepreneur’s for over 12 years running a transportation brokerage moving cars in the US and overseas with their company United Intermodal Group, LLC. They closed this business and started up their first BoxDrop location together in a 950 SF warehouse in 2016. Prior to 2004, Kirk spent 8 years as a Logistics Manager with Maersk/Sea Land containerized shipping overseeing truck, rail and barge services in the south, border crossing into Mexico and specialized in sending Rice Ships to Jakarta to help “feed the people”. Kirk and Heather also have ownership in a bowling alley in Heather’s home state of Michigan. Kirk attended Brookhaven Community College where has a degree in business management, supervision and marketing. He his a die hard Texas Longhorns fan despite his daughter Ashlyn attending Texas Tech and his Aggie daughter Aubrey at Texas A&M. Coach Kirk has also enjoyed coaching select basketball since 2005, has 2 state titles and a handful of trips to Nationals tournaments. Along with their 2 daughters, Kirk and Heather also have a son, Braden who enjoys basketball and bass fishing with his dad. The family enjoys traveling, boating and spending time with friends and family at their lake house on Lake Texoma.

Initially intending to direct his creative passion towards the construction industry TJ earned his Bachelors of Science degree in construction management at “The” Clemson University (home to the 2016/17 college football champions).  Shortly after college while working in construction TJ’s entrepreneurial flare turned toward the emerging internet world where he could also apply his passion for photography and at 25 he started his own business in internet marketing that included photography, advertising, sales and website development. In 2013 as a part of its asset acquisition strategies RSS integrated TJ’s internet company into RSS’s developmental plans for cultivating advanced social media strategies. Now TJ works directly with RSS business owners helping them build their social media platforms and in multiple RSS divisions on website development, photography, social medial strategies and e-commerce development. TJ and his wife Racheal also operate one of RSS’s corporate owned experimental products locations in Greer SC and prior to that Racheal was the assistant manager to Daphene Andrew’s BoxDrop Furniture store on Lake Hartwell. Together they have a smiling one year old son and aside from his business and photography passions, TJ is an avid semi-pro volleyball player.

 

While serving his country in the Navy for twenty-two years in administration, Gary also received an A.S. in Information Systems from the Florida Community College of Jacksonville. Handling the rigorously demanding duty of what were customer servicing and fulfillment roles in military administration was the perfect preparatory work for orchestrating a goal oriented approach to problem solving and technology implementation while also handling fulfillment needs for unique and demanding customers. His professional interests focus on customer service, solving problems and analyzing information systems to recommend methods for building and streamlining them to facilitate more efficient methods of doing business. Gary oversees RSS’s staff of customer service personnel that cover areas such as advertising services, internet-based support systems, warranty management, shipping oversight and data administration. He takes a personal approach to making things right for the end user and is always on call. Gary lives in Columbus, OH with his wife Tracey and two of their four children. He is an avid Star Trek enthusiast and is involved in making fan produced films for release on You-Tube.

Jill began her career in Accounting while working in the manufacturing field. She worked at The Krazy Glue Co. for over 10 years applying her skills from receptionist to Accounting Assistant to eventually doing task in the Human Resources Department as well. In 2017 Jill joined the RSS team as the Accounting Assistant. Her daily tasks are invoicing/billing with a little customer service by helping out our dealers anyway that she can. Jill lives outside of Columbus, OH with her husband Erik and two daughters Mara and Maddie. She enjoys watching her daughters play softball and scrap booking all the memories she has with her family.

 

Ryan has been active in the retail/customer service field since 1991. His customer service career began with mega retailer Target and moved on to internet based customer service with America Online, where customer engagement was performed over the phone to troubleshoot and resolve technical questions/situations associated with the service. After leaving America Online, went to work for Bank of America assisting customers via telephone and email with inquiries/issues regarding the online banking service as well as specific account concerns. His retail/customer service prepared him for customer service communication via telephone/email, data entry/processing, and team oriented goal achievement. His career prepared him perfectly to become a Dealer Support Representative for RSS. As a Dealer Support Representative, job functions include processing dealer submitted orders and updating and performing delivery confirmations inquiries/requests through the RSS online system as well as maintaining communication with RSS vendors regarding dealer order/delivery inquiries and requests. When away from work, he enjoys Star Wars/Star Trek, PlayStation video gaming, and anime.

Alan has spent five years in customer service. Four years were spent working at a Nursing home where he learned that patience and understanding are key to any situation in assisting someone. Alan has also coached football at Dublin Scioto High School where he learned the importance of responsibility. Being a positive role-model to kids not far from himself in age was very important to him and wanted to instill the value of hard work. Alan is an avid THE Ohio State Buckeyes fan and Harry Potter fanatic. Alan is a student at Columbus State Community College studying computer information systems and resides in Columbus, Ohio.

Before setting up a BoxDrop Mattress location in the Villages of Florida, Mr. Williams was a steel broker for several Ohio metal companies and his responsibilities included overseeing a South Carolina warehouse negotiating steel prices from various mill suppliers. He also spent time as a Securities Representative for Merrill Lynch and was twice named outstanding salesman for the pharmaceutical company William S. Merrill. As an entrepreneur, he owned and managed two successful frozen yogurt shops that employed over 25 people. Since retiring to Florida, Mr. Williams has served as a CASA volunteer for children, having been selected as volunteer of the year in his county. In addition to starting and organizing a shuffleboard and bocce league, a weekly dining out group of 50 people, he started an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) program for 129 homes. This neighborhood program is credited with saving the life of at least one of the residents.

From 1994 to 2017, he was a partner of the international law firm of Foley & Lardner LLP, in Tampa, Florida, serving within that firm’s Transactional & Securities and Private Equity & Venture Capital practices and as a member of its Technology Industry team. Mr. Traber is a founder and since 2006, has served as a director of HCI Group, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange listed company headquartered in Tampa, Florida that engages in various business activities, including homeowners insurance, reinsurance, real estate and information technology. Since 2015, he has served as a director for LM Funding America, Inc., a Nasdaq listed specialty finance company headquartered in Tampa, Florida. From 2012 to 2013, he served on the Board of Directors of Exeter Trust Company, Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Mr. Traber is a founder of NorthStar Banking Corporation in Tampa, Florida and from 2007 to 2011 served as a member of the Board of Directors of that bank holding company. From 2009 to 2014, Mr. Traber served on the Board of Directors of JHS Capital Holdings, Tampa, Florida. From 2010 to 2016, he served on the Advisory Board of Platinum Bank, Tampa, Florida. Mr. Traber was appointed to the Advisory Board on February 1, 2017 of Retail Service Systems, LLC, Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Traber holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor from Indiana University, in the latter case, he graduated magna cum laude and first in his class.

Bob has orchestrated an illustrious and recognized career in the home furnishings industry in which he is considered one of its utmost experts. Born in NYC he began working for Koos Furniture during his summer years of college where he played baseball on athletic scholarship at the university of Georgia. After graduating with an advertising and public relations degree he went to work at Rhodes Furniture in sales and then ultimately management. Climbing the experience ladder he became the Georgia state rep for several furniture lines and eventually in sales management with Rosalco, Inc. where he helped the company grow from $5 million to $48 million. Bob has had an ownership and/or founding role in several business start-ups in the industry and in 2004 sold his majority ownership interest in Southern Textiles to Leggett & Platt. He stayed with L&P to run the Southern Textiles division until he retired in 2014 to grow another one of his company’s the Monday Corporation and to serve on RSS’s advisory board. Bob has served on several boards including the World Market (Las Vegas Furniture Market), Gallery Furniture, Piorra Mattress and the board of his NYC apartment building. He and his wife Rose are very active in charitable organizations and spend time enjoying their twelve grandchildren while traveling between their homes in Georgia, Ney York and Paris. 

 

Dewey Andrew

Dewey grew up on a rural NC farm where basketball was the passion that gave him an opportunity to go to college on scholarship at Elon University. While graduating with honors in mathematics, Dewey also became an All-American and set numerous scoring records. He is a member of Elon’s Hall of Fame still holding records and having an established scholarship fund in his name. After his undergraduate work, he went to graduate school at UNC Chapel Hill where he was a graduate assistant basketball coach and soon was drafted as one of the first of twelve American players to be allowed to enter the Italian professional basketball league. After basketball, he went to work in sales but soon became the founder and/or owner of multiple businesses in several industries such as restaurant equipment, beverage wholesale, golf, hotel development, banking and real-estate. He has served on numerous boards including the Board of First Commercial Bank in which he was a founder, WNC Care Partners Foundation to which a wing has been dedicated in his name, The Eblen Charities Foundation wherein he founded the Andrew Institute for Leadership. Today Mr. Andrew is an avid venture capitalist overseeing numerous business investments and serving on advisory boards for multiple golf courses and hotels while managing interests in a medical products company and several real estate holdings. He and his wife Susan live in Asheville NC and have three children between them as well as nine grandchildren.
